Setting Up Fee Estimate Warnings

Set and manage fee estimates in LEAP for effective cost monitoring. Receive warnings when transaction values approach or exceed the preset limits.

Enable fee estimate warnings on a matter

 

  1. Open the matter.

  2. Click on Matter details under Details. The Matter Details window will open.

  3. Click the Accounting tab.

  4. Enter a Fee Estimate amount and select if the amount includes or excludes tax.

  5. Enter a Disbursement Estimate amount and select if the amount includes or excludes tax.

  6. Tick the Show Estimates Warning checkbox.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Save the matter.

    You will now be notified once you’re entering an amount that exceeds the set limit.

    The Fee Estimate warning is shown to whichever LEAP user is entering the relevant transaction. It appears as soon as the user clicks the option to save the transactions.

  9. Click Confirm to save the transaction or Cancel to return to the time or fee entry.

Set up advance fee estimate warnings

 

  1. Click the LEAP Menu > Settings > Application Settings.

    The LEAP Application Settings will open in a new window.

  2. Click Accounting > General.

  3. Under Estimate Warning Values for Fees & Disbursements, you have two options to choose from:

    • Within Amount eg. £100 or
    • Within Percent eg. 20%

    When entering a value using the 'Within Percent' option, you will receive the fee estimate warning when your total fees & disbursements reach the specified percentage of the estimated figure.

     

    For example, if your Fee Estimate is £500, and you enter 20% in the 'Within Percent' field, you will receive a warning when your fees & disbursements reach £400 (80%) of your total estimate.

  4. Click Save.

    You will now receive a warning when entering transactions if the matter is approaching the fee estimate.

  3. Click the Accounting tab.

  4. Enter a Fee Estimate amount and select if the amount includes or excludes tax.

  5. Enter a Disbursement Estimate amount and select if the amount includes or excludes tax.

  6. Tick the Show Estimates Warning checkbox.

  7. Click Save.

    You will now be notified once you’re entering an amount that exceeds the set limit.

  8. Click Confirm to save the transaction or Cancel to return to the time or fee entry.
