At the start of each new calendar year, there are a few things you'll need to do:

Check that your matter file numbers are automatically updated for the new calendar year, if your firm uses the current year as part of the matter number.

If your firm would like to add the current year as a prefix to the matter file number, click here.

Make sure that all accounting procedures have been completed for December.
1. Upload all journals to your accounting software, i.e., either QuickBooks or Xero.
2. Finalise the Client Fund bank reconciliation.
3. Print all general and Client account reports.
4. Print a copy of the Client Fund bank account register.
Do a general clean-up of your files and archive any matters that you need to.

Remove the Christmas message.

When the Christmas period is over and the new year has started, you'll need to remove the Christmas message from the document types you've changed.
